Acid 36 is Ace Chemical's recirculation and passivating acid — a blend of phosphoric and nitric acid that cleans and protects in the same pass. It's the acid side of a complete CIP program, pairing with an alkaline cleaner like Kettle Wash to handle what caustic leaves behind.

As a cleaner it strips beerstone, hard water scale, and mineral deposits from stainless, leaving surfaces bright. As a passivating acid it restores and maintains the protective layer on quality stainless steel, so every cleaning cycle is also a maintenance cycle. Low-foaming and free-rinsing, it recirculates cleanly through spray balls and leaves no residue, and it holds up in hard water.

For routine cleaning, dose 1/4 to 2 oz per gallon depending on soil load and rinse thoroughly. For passivating new or freshly welded stainless after alkaline cleaning, use 6 to 12 oz per gallon at no more than 140°F, recirculated at least 45 minutes; where recirculation isn't possible a stronger solution up to 25% may be needed. A 1% solution runs pH 2. Available in 5-gallon pails, 15-gallon carboys, and 55-gallon drums.

Concentrated and corrosive: wear appropriate PPE and keep it off soft metals. The SDS and technical data sheet are linked below. DOT-regulated and ships LTL on your pallet only, never by parcel carrier — and we charge no hazmat fees, ever.
