Sourcing Program

How we source English hops

We don’t pretend to grow these. Our English hops most often come through Charles Faram, the Worcestershire merchant that has handled the British crop since 1865 — including protected-origin East Kent Goldings grown in Kent itself.

What we add is selection and logistics. We choose lots by COA, not by brochure, and we stock them in Fort Worth so your hops ride the same pallet as your malt. Packaging varies by lot; the analysis on the COA is what you’re buying. When a variety is between crops, its page says so honestly and returns when the new harvest lands.

The Lineup

Typical alpha ranges are published variety values — exact lot analysis is on each product's COA. Need an alternative? See the Hop Substitution Chart.

Flat-Rate Freight

English hops ride the malt pallet

A cask program shouldn't pay parcel rates for hops. Add English foils to your malt order and they ship on the same pallet under our flat-rate freight program — the cart shows your rate and savings live as you build the order.

Brewer FAQ

English hops, answered

Are English hops in stock in the United States?

Yes. Pro Brew Supply stocks English hop varieties including East Kent Goldings, Fuggle, and Challenger in Fort Worth, Texas, in 11 lb nitrogen-flushed foils and 44 lb boxes, with same-day shipping on orders placed before 3 PM CT (2 PM Fridays).

What's the difference between East Kent Goldings and other Goldings?

East Kent Goldings is the protected-origin designation for Goldings grown in East Kent, England — the benchmark lot brewers name on the pump clip. Goldings grown elsewhere share the family character but not the designation. Ours are the Kent original, sourced through Charles Faram.

What can I substitute for an English hop that's out of stock?

The variety table above lists working substitutes for every English hop we carry — Fuggle's nearest matches are Willamette and Styrian Golding, and East Kent Goldings sits closest to Fuggle and Progress. For the full picture across every origin, see our Hop Substitution Chart.

Which English hop should anchor a traditional bitter or ESB?

Challenger is the single-hop answer — strong enough to bitter and refined enough to finish. The classic two-hop build is Challenger or Fuggle for structure with East Kent Goldings late for the honey-and-lavender signature.
